Also, the AC unit was abuzzin’ like some attack plane in WWII. Did we mention we consumed Taco Bell right before bed? And that we had to substitute beans for meat on our soft tacos?

You’re site’s hilarious. It sounds like the Morse Code was a GSM (AT&T) type of phone sitting too close to the alarm clock. The RF transmitter in the phone induces current (i.e. noise that sounds like Morse Code) in unshielded (read: cheap alarm clock) speaker systems.
